Suncor's senior management team is charged with delivering significant growth while maintaining operational excellence. Suncor's management has delivered on its promise to generate sustainable shareholder value with an annual shareholder return of more than 30% since the company became publicly traded in 1992.

  • Rick George, president and chief executive officer (CEO), leads Suncor senior management, which is tasked with ensuring the company continues to be an industry leader on both fronts.
  • Steve Williams, chief operating officer (COO), oversees competitiveness, cost-efficiency and process reliability in all of Suncor’s operations, while ensuring that a commitment to safe and sustainable development continues to be a Suncor hallmark.

A senior executive-level operating committee of business leaders reports directly to Mr. Williams, including:

  • Kirk Bailey, executive vice president, Oil Sands, leads improvements in safety, sustainability and competitiveness at the company’s oil sands operation.
  • Neil Camarta, executive vice president, Natural Gas, is responsible for the company's significant portfolio of natural gas-focused exploration and production activities in North America.
  • Boris Jackman, executive vice president, Refining and Marketing, has overall responsibility for operations at four refineries, as well as industrial and retail marketing of refined products and lubricants under the Petro-Canada brand.
  • Mike MacSween, senior vice president, In-Situ, leads Suncor’s in-situ operations. The combined assets of Petro-Canada and Suncor form a significant growth platform for growing in-situ oil sands recovery.
  • Eric Axford, senior vice president, Operations Support, is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable and environmentally responsible operations across Suncor’s integrated businesses.

In addition to COO Steve Williams, Rick George's executive team includes the following individuals:

  • Kevin Nabholz, executive vice president, Major Projects, leads major project engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) at Suncor. In this position, he is responsible for leading EPC for growth projects across the corporation in the upstream, downstream and renewable energy portfolios.
  • Jay Thornton, executive vice president, Energy Supply, Trading and Development, is responsible for marketing, logistics and energy trading. He is also lead executive of the company’s renewable energy strategies and development.
  • Sue Lee, senior vice president of Human Resources and Communications, leads human resources and stakeholder relations, ensuring the strategies and programs to achieve the company’s growth potential are in place.
  • Bart Demosky, chief financial officer, directs financial operations, including investor relations and treasury and plays a key role in ensuring Suncor has the financial strength necessary to support the company's significant growth potential.
  • Andrew Stephens, senior vice president, Business Services, is responsible for enterprise-wide business services and integration of technology and processes, including supply chain management.
  • Terry Hopwood, general counsel and senior vice president, Legal, is responsible for all legal matters across the corporation.
  • Harry Roberts, senior vice president, Integration, is responsible for co-leading the design and implementation strategies of merged processes, management systems and standards.
  • Mark Little senior vice president, International & Offshore, leads Suncor’s businesses in East Coast Canada, the North Sea, Northern Latin America and North Africa.
  • Ron Brenneman, executive vice chairman, is responsible for stewarding the integration of the recently merged Suncor and Petro-Canada into a new global competitor.
