Libya. Suncor is not exploring in Libya and has not yet resumed its full business in the country, but the Harouge joint venture (with a 49% interest held by Suncor) began re-starting production in late 2011.

Syria. Political unrest and resulting sanctions in Syria have halted Suncor’s operations in Syria. For more information, visit the archives on Suncor Response. Prior to sanctions, Suncor’s primary asset in Syria was the Ebla development, which achieved first commercial gas in April 2010.
