Community Service Grants recognize employees and their active involvement in communities. There are two grants available:
In recognition of employees and retirees who volunteer in our communities, Suncor will award one grant per year per employee to eligible organizations in the amount of $750 (applicable currency).
Examples include:
- Coaching little league teams
- Instructing youth sports
- Serving meals to homeless people
- Answering phones at a distress centre
- Mentoring students
- Stocking shelves at the food bank
- Volunteering in official capacities with non-profit organizations and community associations, school parent associations and similar organizations
You must be one of the following:
- An active volunteer, giving a minimum of 48 hours per year to the organization
- Part of a Suncor business group, where you and your team members regularly volunteer with an organization
You can apply for one grant per year to benefit:
- An organization that resides in your country
- The same organization, or a different one, in consecutive years.
Contributions to any one organization through Volunteering Grants will be capped at $20,000 (applicable currency) in a single year. In situations where more clarity is needed about the volunteer role, Suncor and the Suncor Energy Foundation reserve the right to request a letter from the non-profit organization confirming your role.
Eligible organizations include:
- Registered not-for-profit societies or federally registered charitable organizations that meet a community need (i.e., a Canadian registered charitable organization, or an organization with 501 (c) (3) status in the United States, an organization that is registered with the charity commission of England and Wales or an equivalent international regulatory body)
- In the case of non-profit activities that are not registered, such as little league teams, funding must be channelled through a local community association. The community association should be registered as a non-profit society and it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide this registration number. In situations where more clarity is needed regarding the existence of a non-profit group or community association, Suncor and the Suncor Energy Foundation reserve the right to verify its registration number.
The Volunteering Grant does not support:
- Employee and retiree leisure pursuits, including adult sport and recreational teams (for example, adult hockey, tennis, badminton, swimming, etc.) for which the volunteer activity does not involve helping others
- Activities considered an extension of your role as a parent (for example, driving team members to games, cleaning team jerseys) unless it is an official volunteer position within an established non-profit organization
- Political parties or candidates
- Religious or cultural initiatives that are for the benefit of the membership or faith community only (for example, member of church board or program serving a single faith community)
- Organizations focused on the advocacy of a particular social, moral, religious, political or economic point of view
- Professional sports teams
- Private clubs or organizations funded through membership fees
- Individuals, individual pursuits or research

A minimum amount of $100 raised is required to access this grant. This grant supports activity-based fundraising events only.
We will not match:

An authorized pledge sheet or list of online pledges will be required to approve the grant request.
