Suncor and the Suncor Energy Foundation (SEF) proudly contribute to non-profit and charitable organizations in Canada and internationally.
At this time, Suncor and the Suncor Energy Foundation (SEF) are:
- continuing to honour all existing, committed community donations and sponsorships for 2020, and
- unable to consider new partnerships or community initiatives that are unrelated to this year’s post-secondary donations program or our response to the COVID-19 crisis and recovery.
Regarding the latter, we are working with our current partner organizations to identify needs they see in community, and considering limited new donations that may further support those needs (as identified by community members that we hold relationships with and seek advice from regularly).
As we adjust to the evolving situation caused by the pandemic, we will review our approach to new donations quarterly, or more frequently as conditions change, and will update this message accordingly.
Along the way, our SunCares employee program continues to be a key opportunity to engage our employees and support communities, and funding for SunCares will continue. Suncor and SEF match 100% of employee donations, up to $2,000 per employee, per year.
If you have questions or comments about any of the above, please contact us at sef@suncor.com.
In addition, our colleagues in other parts of Suncor may be able to provide (limited) in-kind support related to COVID-19 response (e.g., medical supplies, masks, personal protective equipment, etc.). For inquiries specific to items of this nature, please contact sponsorships@suncor.com.
Types of funding
Suncor and SEF proudly contribute to registered charitable organizations in Canada and internationally that align with our community investment funding priorities: Indigenous Peoples, community resilience and energy future. Before applying, please review the details of these priorities.
Suncor supports non-profit and charitable activities and events that align with our community investment funding priorities and business interests through sponsorships and donations (including donations to organizations that do not have charitable status), financial assistance, in-kind contributions, product donations and event sponsorships.
SEF’s donation program for Canadian post-secondary institutions is called “Driving Innovation and Reducing Barriers.” This program was created to further support SEF’s existing funding priorities, and reduce or eliminate barriers to participation for students and community members while supporting society in moving toward a more fair and sustainable economic system.
