Spring 2021
Our 2021 spring maintenance event is scheduled to begin in May at our Base Plant operation, located 25 km north of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
To ensure a successful event, which will encompass maintenance within the Upgrading, Extraction and Energy & Utilities areas, our maintenance contractors require approximately 2500 professional skilled tradespeople.
While May marks the official start to the event, individuals will be required to support pre-work starting in March.
The following contractors will be supporting the Base Plant’s Spring 2021 event:
Note: These companies must be contacted via your union hall representative. Do not contact them directly.
It is important that everyone coming to our site understands our safety expectations. Safety is our collective responsibility, and it requires all of us to work together to know and most importantly, understand the safety processes in place.
Like many other companies, we have had to manage the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the workplace. Rest assured, over the last year we have monitored and adjusted protocols to ensure the people working on our sites can work safely. We have reduced our workforce numbers where possible so only essential worker supporting our operations are at site and those who can work from home, do so.
Precautions are being taken to ensure health and safety on all transportation to Suncor sites, including increased cleaning and sanitization protocols and reducing the number of passengers on buses.
In lodges, we have worked with our service providers to increase the frequency and intensity of cleaning and have moved to full-service cafeterias and individually packaged items to reduce touchpoints and interactions.
To help stop the spread, Suncor requires everyone who works on our sites to keep up to date on our ongoing pandemic response. To learn more, visit our COVID-19 section. Knowing the safety protocols in place will help to keep you and your coworkers safe.
Please note: As an added layer of protection against the spread of COVID-19, Suncor is implementing rapid antigen screening of workers for our Base Plant Planned Maintenance event. Contractors supporting the event will be expected to screen routinely.
Lodging and food are hosted by Suncor at the following lodges for the duration of your stay:
Bus transportation between the lodges and our Base Plant operations is complimentary and offers uninterrupted service from the lodges to site.
As part of your onboarding experience, you will receive a Suncor ID card which will be required for boarding the bus for site access. Bus schedules will be posted and available at the lodges when you arrive. Schedules are subject to change.
