As COVID-19 continues to spread, governments around the world are asking non-essential businesses to close and non-essential workers to stay home to help flatten the curve. Health-care workers, grocery store clerks and first responders are among many workers who remain essential during these challenging times. We also have heroes among us at Suncor. We have them to thank for keeping our operations running smoothly despite the challenges we’re facing.
While many of us are safe in our homes, it’s the front-line workers from many industries who are helping keep our homes heated, fueling the transportation of food and supplies to ensure our grocery stores and pharmacies are stocked, and even local restaurant deliveries can be made to our doorstep.
Many of our employees, now working from home, took the opportunity to share their thanks to our front-line workers who are continuing to provide critical oil products and electricity for the well-being of Canada.
“To all the folks in our operations producing the fuel that powers our world - THANK YOU! What you do is truly critical,” says James Finnigan, a Suncor employee. “We take for granted that gasoline, diesel and jet fuel will always be there when we need it; we often don’t consider what it takes to ensure our society continues to operate day-in and day-out. It is each of you that make it happen for Canadians and Americans every single day. Thanks for all you do. Stay healthy and safe.”
“Today I realized we have heroes walking around our offices. In one of our buildings in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, we have Raylene Alleyne to help ensure our building is kept clean for everyone’s safety! Thank you Raylene and the Bee Clean team for keeping our workplace safe,” says Brandon Biggin of Suncor.
Raylene Alleyne from the Bee Clean team who is ensuring our buildings near our operations in Fort McMurray are keeping Suncor employees healthy and safe.
“You are the ‘known soldiers’ who always step in during critical times. Thank you all for keeping the plants running safely and trying to take care of your loved ones at the same time! Please stay safe,” says Suncor employee Auof Jasim.
Thank you to our essential workers, at our Suncor operations and across Canada!
