Neighbours across Highway 63 for more than four decades, Syncrude and Suncor helped build the oil sands industry and the community. Since joining forces last September when Suncor assumed operatorship of Syncrude, we’ve been making an effort to capitalize on our collective strength while responsibly developing Alberta’s valuable oil sands resource. This includes better aligning planned maintenance events across our regional assets to offer a combined view of annual work.

Major outage work is underway at our Base Plant and Mildred Lake sites that requires the support of a number of skilled crafts.

Suncor Base Plant 2022 Summer Maintenance

Pre-work begins Q1 for select trades, with Feed-out scheduled for mid-July 2022.

Mâmawi: Syncrude is executing planned maintenance on Coker 8-1 this summer. About 2,200 craft are required to execute this project of >800,000 workforce hours. Associated smaller maintenance events for Mâmawi will also take place between March and June requiring approximately 400 craft.

Craft supporting Critical Path will be on 12-hour shifts; all other workforce will be on 10-hour shifts.

Camp will be provided. Travel Assistance Protocol will be available to secure specific craft.

Pre-work begins in Q1 for select trades, with Feed-out scheduled for late May 2022.

Suncor Base Plant is executing a Maintenance Event in Upgrading this spring. About 750 craft are required to execute this project of approximately 330,000 workforce hours.
