Executive Vice President, Business & Operations Services
Bruno Francoeur was appointed Executive Vice President, Business & Operations Services in 2021 and leads the company’s business and operations services, including Environment Health & Safety, Operational Risk Management, Technical Services, Supply Chain, Projects, and Information Technology & Digital. He is also accountable for driving critical priorities and work in support of the organization’s focus on operational excellence, risk management and productivity improvement through digital, data and process. Prior to this, Bruno was Chief Transformation Officer where he led the transformation management office for the enterprise.
Bruno has more than 30 years of industry experience, including over 10 years at Union Carbide. In 1997, Bruno joined legacy Petro‑Canada and spent several years in various roles at the Montreal refinery and with the strategy team in Toronto before leading the refinery as Vice President for six years.
In 2012, Bruno took his expertise to the upstream in various leadership roles in the oil sands. He most recently served as Regional Operations Executive where he led Suncor’s upstream operations across northern Alberta. In this role, Bruno was accountable for the operation and maintenance of Suncor’s mining and in situ sites (Base Plant, Fort Hills, Firebag and MacKay River), as well as the technical services associated with those assets.
Currently based out of Calgary, Bruno previously resided in Fort McMurray where he was an active member in the community. He is a previous Board Chair of the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo, which manages many recreation facilities in the region, including the Suncor Community Leisure Centre at MacDonald Island Park.
Bruno holds a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the University of Sherbrooke.
