Hydrocarbon release at Suncor Edmonton refinery
Edmonton, Alberta (August 25, 2009) — Suncor Energy Inc. reported a hydrocarbon release at the company’s Edmonton-area refinery at 4 p.m. MT August 24. Refinery personnel responded and the situation was quickly brought under control. There were no reported injuries and no risk to the public. Operational impacts are not expected to be significant and there is no expected impact to retail gasoline and diesel supply.
Suncor has notified regulators and the “all clear” was sounded at approximately 6 p.m. August 24. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the release.
