Karyn Lewis, a Senior Project Controls Advisor who works in Suncor’s St. John’s, N.L. office, can now fill up her tank at an iconic fuel brand proudly owned by the company she works for.

Petro-Canada, a Suncor business, opened retail stations on The Rock at a grand opening ceremony on December 4 when four stations in St. John’s turned on the pumps for the first time under the Petro-Canada brand.

“Having a Petro-Canada just down the road from our office is very convenient, and the savings for employees are a nice perk," says Karyn. "It's so nice to see Petro-Canada stations in our community."

The stations, rebranded from North Atlantic to Petro-Canada, are operated by North Sun Energy, a co-ownership business between Petro-Canada and North Atlantic established earlier this year. Combined, 110 retail fuel sites in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador fall under this operating model, some under the Petro-Canada brand and some under the North Atlantic brand.

Newfoundlanders and Labradorians can now earn rewards by joining Petro-Points and save 3¢/litre at the pump through Petro-Canada’s partnership with RBC.

“We’re excited to welcome guests in Newfoundland and Labrador to Petro-Canada,” says Shannon Wing, GM of Petro-Canada’s Retail Sales and Operations. “North Atlantic and its convenience business, Orangestore, are brands that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians trust. With the opening of Petro-Canada, we are eager to build on that reputation as Canada’s most trusted fuel brand.”

For now, Petro-Canada can only be found in and around St. John’s, but more locations are planned to open across the province, adding to a national network of more than 1,500 retail locations from coast-to-coast.

“Canadians count on Petro-Canada every day to keep them moving toward what matters most to them,” adds Shannon. “Opening Petro-Canada retail stations in Newfoundland is another way we Live By The Leaf.”
