At Suncor, we recognize our important role in shaping Canada’s energy future and our responsibility to create lasting value for both shareholders and society. Through our Report on Sustainability, we are proud to highlight our strong social and governance performance.
Suncor is committed to the transparent disclosure of our performance and, until last year, published its Report on Sustainability annually for over 25 years. However, the Bill C-59 amendments to the federal Competition Act create significant uncertainty for companies like Suncor that communicate publicly about their work to manage environmental performance, including actions and plans to address climate change. Until there is clarity on how this new law will be applied by the Canadian Competition Bureau and the courts, Suncor’s Report on Sustainability will not contain environmental content or data.
