Developing relationships with Indigenous Peoples and communities requires openness and honesty. With many of our sites and operations located on the traditional lands of Indigenous Peoples, we acknowledge that what we do impacts the land and we are seeking to understand how our operations affect Indigenous communities, ways of life and traditions. We will take the time to listen to communities to get to know them, understand their priorities and concerns and discover ways we can work together. It is in this way that we work to grow and nurture relationships with Indigenous Peoples based on mutual trust and respect.
Journey of Reconciliation
The Journey of Reconciliation reflects our continued transformation both within the organization and through relationships with Indigenous Peoples. It represents our commitment to honour the spirit and intent of the treaties, to live side-by-side in mutual respect, reciprocity and responsibility.

Indigenous equity partnerships and agreements
Our agreements with Indigenous communities represent our intent to engage in meaningful, long-term relationship-building with one another in the spirit of collaboration. The equity partnerships we have formed with Indigenous communities are an important step towards economic reconciliation. Together they embody how working together, with respect and trust, creates mutual benefit.
Pathways Magazine
For more than a decade, the Pathways Magazine published by Syncrude, has shared success stories of Indigenous Peoples in the areas we operate in. We are proud to be able to carry on the tradition and tell the inspiring stories of Indigenous People from coast-to-coast.
