During complex surgeries, access to clear, reliable, real-time imaging is essential.

That’s why Suncor is contributing $550,000 to the Fondation de l’Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (FHMR) to support the purchase of a state-of-the-art mobile 3D C-arm intraoperative imaging system. This significant investment – one of the largest contributions we’ve made in Quebec to date – reflects our commitment to supporting the health and well-being of the communities where we live and work.

The C-arm is a mobile system that provides fast, accurate intraoperative images, helping surgical teams confirm positioning, adjust approaches and make confident, informed decisions. Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, located in Montreal East, plans to use this technology across a wide range of procedures – including orthopedic, cardiac and neurosurgical interventions – where visibility, precision and efficiency in the operating room are critical.

Supporting surgical precision and confidence
In high-stake operating rooms, real-time visualization can influence the course of a procedure. The new 3D C-arm system improves surgical outcomes with:

  • High-resolution intraoperative imaging for rapid, informed decisions
  • Reduced radiation exposure for patients and clinical teams
  • Shorter procedure times, improving overall operating room efficiency
  • Mobility between rooms, supporting fast-paced surgical environments
  • Fewer corrective surgeries due to enhanced accuracy

Because the system can travel easily between operating rooms, imaging is available where it is needed most.

Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont expects 80 to 120 patients each year will benefit from the new C-arm imaging system.

Investing in care close to home
For patients and families, access to modern intraoperative imaging supports safer procedures, reduces complications and brings greater peace of mind during critical moments in their care journey.

“This investment reflects Suncor’s deep commitment to the health and well-being of the communities where our employees live and work,” says Isabelle Arbour, Vice-President, Montreal Refinery.

“By helping bring this advanced technology to Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, we are supporting surgical teams with the tools they need to deliver the safest, most precise care possible. It is a meaningful step that will benefit patients across Montréal for years to come.”

The system is expected to be fully operational later this year. By partnering with FHMR and the teams at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, Suncor is helping advance healthcare innovation and strengthen access to high-quality care across the region.
