Bringing Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) to a second operation is a bit like winning a back-to-back championship. The first time proves what's possible. The second time proves that success can be replicated.
Suncor has reached another important milestone in its autonomous haulage journey with the launch of its first Autonomous Operating Zone at Syncrude Mildred Lake. This achievement builds on the successful implementation of AHS at Base Plant in 2024 and shows what can be accomplished when technology, expertise and collaboration come together across our operations.
Today, 19 trucks are equipped for autonomous operation at Mildred Lake, with plans to convert an additional 21 by the end of the year.
As we continue to focus on optimizing mining performance, innovations like AHS are helping drive productivity, reliability and cost competitiveness across the business.
What's next? This summer, the autonomous fuel module will be brought online and teams will continue expanding training and applying lessons learned to support the planned growth of the AHS fleet to 70 trucks.
