Applying for jobs

How do I view jobs?

Go to suncor.com/careers to find more information about careers with us or go to our website to view jobs.

What if I don’t see a job opportunity that I’m interested in and qualified for?

If you don’t see any jobs that interest you, create an account and sign up for job alerts. You can tailor the job alerts to your preferred job category and location.

How do I apply to jobs online?

  1. when you find a job posting you’re interested in and qualified for, select ‘apply’
  2. if you have an account, enter your email and password and select ‘sign in.’ Select ‘autfofill with resume’ or ‘use my last application’
  3. if you don’t have an account, select ‘create account.’ Once you have filled in the required information, you will need to search for the job you’re interested in applying to again
  4. upload your resume
    • select ‘continue’
    • fill in the ‘my information’ section
    • fill in the ‘my experience’ section with your previous work experience, education, languages, and skills
    • select ‘save and continue’
    • answer any application questions
    • select ‘save and continue’
    • update any Voluntary Disclosures and agree to the Terms and Conditions
    • select ‘save and continue’
    • review your information, and select ‘submit’

How do I upload a cover letter?

During the application process you will have an opportunity to upload your resume in your candidate home. If you apply to multiple jobs, you can upload a different resume for each job. A cover letter is not required.

My application

How do I know if I’ve successfully applied for a job?

Once you’ve selected ‘submit,’ a screen will appear confirming you have successfully applied for the job. You will also receive a confirmation to your email account on file. Be sure to check your junk mail if you do not receive it.

I’ve applied for a job at Suncor. When will I receive a response?

After a job posting has closed, our recruiting team will review all candidates. Those selected for an interview will be contacted directly. If you were not contacted by a recruiter, you will receive an email notification from Suncor when the position has been filled (timing varies).

How can I get an update on the status of my application?

  1. from the job postings page, select the ‘candidate home” button
  2. enter your email and password and select ‘sign in’
  3. this brings you in to your ‘candidate home’
  4. you’ll see the jobs you’ve applied to under ‘submitted applications’
  5. refer to the status column for an update on where your application is in the recruiting process

How do I update the information in my application?

Once your application has been submitted, it cannot be updated. You can only view your application.

To view your application:

  • from the job postings page, select the ‘candidate home’ button
  • enter your email and password and select ‘sign in’
  • you will see the jobs you’ve applied to under ‘submitted Applications’
  • select the ‘manage’ button next to the job title of the application you want to review and select ‘view my submitted application’

Can I apply to more than one job at Suncor?

Yes, you can apply to more than one job at a time if your qualifications match the criteria for the job.

How do I create job alerts?

  1. from the job postings page, select ‘candidate home’
  2. enter your email and password and select ‘sign in’
  3. click ‘job alerts’
  4. select ‘create job alert’
  5. you will be asked to fill in the following fields and select “OK”:
    • name your job alert
    • frequency
    • location country
    • job category
    • locations
    • job type
    • full/part-time

How do I edit my candidate profile?

  1. from the job postings page, select ‘candidate home’
  2. enter your email and password and select ‘sign in’
  3. scroll to the bottom of the page and select ‘update contact information’ or ‘edit account settings’
  4. Make changes and then select ‘OK’

I want to apply for a job. The system is asking me to create a profile, but I already have one.

We have recently rolled out a new recruitment system. If you have created an online profile anytime before April 5, 2022, you will need to create a new candidate profile the next time you apply for any of our jobs.

What if I can’t remember my password?

  1. from the job postings page, select ‘candidate home’ from the top navigation
  2. enter your email and password and select ‘forgot your password?’
  3. enter your email address
  4. select ‘reset password’
  5. a message will be sent to your email account with instructions to reset your password

Recruiting

I am in the recruitment process and received an email from a third-party vendor. How do I know it is legitimate?

We have partnered with several third-party vendors to assist in the recruitment process. You will receive email notifications directly from these vendors, asking you to complete requests related to your application, including a video interview, assessment testing, and a background check.

If you’re concerned you’ve been contacted by an individual or organization that is not legitimate, please email us at jobs@suncor.com.

Someone sent me a job offer. How do I know it is legitimate?

We are aware some job seekers have received false employment offers from an individual or organization posing as Suncor.

We will never request money from job seekers, nor request personal information beyond what is required for a resume.

What should I expect during the video interview?

If you make it through the resume review process, the next step may be a pre-recorded digital video interview which gives you an opportunity to share more about yourself (by telling us what can’t be put into words on a resume). Does Suncor hire internationally for jobs in Canada?

Suncor is a Canadian company operating in Canada and abroad. For Suncor jobs based in Canada we have a responsibility and a legal obligation to hire Canadians first.
