Apprenticeship programs

Are you interested in a career in the trades? We provide paid apprenticeship and training programs for high school and post-secondary students who live in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. We partner with CAREERS and Keyano College to support your journey into a career in the trades.

CAREERS apprenticeship program

CAREERS is a collaboration between oil and gas industry members, to ensure apprentices gain varied experience across different companies and obtain their tickets.

To join Suncor through CAREERS:

attend a CAREERS information session (held September to March)
apply to the program by April 1
be eligible to begin your work experience journey with Suncor.

If you are currently enrolled in high school and considering a career in the trades, we also support students through a Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP).

“I spoke to a couple of friends, who went through the Registered Apprentice Program (RAP) and I found a great co-op program through CAREERS. It’s a wicked opportunity. It’s hard to get your foot in the door at big companies but these programs, which are supported by Suncor and Syncrude, allow a young person to get real experience at their sites.”
