Indigenous Student Programs are more than just a work term. They provide Indigenous students with meaningful work experience across our operations in Canada every year, while bringing fresh perspectives into the organization.

By joining our team, we can help you explore your career aspirations – better yet, there may be opportunities to become a full-time Suncor employee after you graduate.

You will work side-by-side with some of the most talented people in the energy industry and your work assignments will support your academic and career growth. You’ll also get a chance to connect with peers, mentors, and members of Journeys, our Indigenous employee inclusion network.

Indigenous Summer Student Program

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Indigenous Summer Student Program, you must be an Indigenous student, planning to return to post-secondary education following your work term.

Posting dates

Indigenous Summer Student Program opportunities are posted four months in advance in December/January for a May start date. The work term is four months from May to August.

Relocation support

Once you accept an offer, we will work with you to help make the transition. If you need to move to your work location, we’ll make it easy by assisting with travel and relocation expenses. We’ll also connect you with other students who are already working with us.

Compensation and benefits

Our student positions are paid positions. Suncor students receive competitive pay and may be eligible for some flexible days off.

Indigenous Youth Internship Program

We partner with CAREERS, a foundation that aims to guide youth into successful career paths, to provide paid work experience opportunities to support Indigenous youth from grades 10-12 in Alberta.

We offer paid work terms of three to four weeks in Edmonton or Calgary, and six weeks in Fort McMurray throughout the summer.
