The East Coast of Canada plays an important and strategic role in our Exploration & Production business. Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, this aspect of our business focuses on high-volume production from four existing offshore fields, interests in future developments and expansions, and exploration drilling for new opportunities in the Atlantic Ocean.
We operate the Terra Nova oil field located on the Grand Banks, 350 kilometres southeast of St. John’s, Nfld. Terra Nova can employ more than 1,200 people when both drilling and production operations are underway.
We hold interests in all current major producing assets
As operator of the Terra Nova field, holding a 48% working interest, we’re focused on running safe, reliable and environmentally responsible operations.
As a joint venture partner, we hold a unique position as the only company on the East Coast with an ownership interest in each of the current major oil projects – Hebron, Hibernia, Terra Nova and White Rose – as well as the Hibernia South Extension and White Rose extensions. Some of these fields are currently under development.
