Lorraine Mitchelmore was appointed to Suncor’s Board of Directors in November 2019 and is the chair of the environment, health, safety and sustainable development committee and a member of the audit committee.
Ms. Mitchelmore has over 30 years international oil and gas industry experience. She most recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer for Enlighten Innovations Inc., a private equity backed fuel upgrading technology company. Prior to Enlighten Innovations Inc., she held progressively senior roles at Royal Dutch Shell. Ms. Mitchelmore joined Shell in 2002, becoming President and Country Chair of Shell Canada Limited in 2009.
Prior to joining Shell, she worked with Petro‑Canada, Chevron and BHP Petroleum in the upstream business units in a combination of technical, exploration & development, and commercial roles.
Ms. Mitchelmore currently serves as a director on the boards of the Bank of Montreal, Cheniere Energy and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMco). She has served on the boards of Shell Canada Limited, the Canada Advisory Board at Catalyst, Inc. and Trans Mountain Corporation.
Ms. Mitchelmore has been named the recipient of the 2024 Calgary Influential Women in Business (CIWB) Lifetime Achievement Award. She holds a bachelor’s of science in geophysics from Memorial University of Newfoundland, a master’s of science in geophysics from the University of Melbourne, Australia and an MBA from Kingston Business School in London, England.
