Suncor’s Commerce City refinery has been part of the Denver area for more than 20 years, with hundreds of employees and their families who live and work across the region. Our focus is on supporting health and safety, education and workforce development and community and culture initiatives that matter locally.
Community and culture
For more than 20 years, Suncor has supported young people in Commerce City by working with Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver to expand safe, supportive spaces for learning and growth. Since 2015, the Suncor Boys & Girls Club has reached more than 3,000 children through programs that support education, well being and connection.
Support extends beyond a single location. Through our U.S. retail fundraising, more than US$1 million has been raised to support Clubs across Colorado, while Suncor employees contribute thousands of volunteer hours each year at the Suncor Club and Gates Camp.
Health and safety
Since 2020, Suncor has invested more than US$400,000 to support Kids First Health Care in expanding access to pediatric care across Adams County.
This support strengthens community and school-based health centers, improving access to primary and preventive care and reducing barriers for children and families by bringing services closer to where they liver, learn and grow.
Education and workforce development
Through a long standing partnership with the Adams 14 Education Foundation, Suncor supports education and skill building opportunities for students in Commerce City, Colorado.
This includes support for innovative educator grants, community leadership programming and the US$20,000 Suncor Energy USA Scholarship, which helps STEM focused students pursue post secondary education. We also contribute to foundation-led events that raise funds for essential school and student supports.
