Community giving

Two Suncor employees put school supplies in backpacks for kids.

At Suncor, we believe in purposeful community investment that reflects the values of our people and the places we call home. We do this through our regional giving, the Suncor Energy Foundation, or on behalf of Syncrude—where we are the operator.

In collaboration with community partners, we focus our support on initiatives that strengthen communities and Indigenous well-being, promote health and safety, and foster education and workforce development to meet evolving community and industry needs.

Regions we support

Our operations span several key regions, including Calgary, Commerce City, Edmonton, Montreal, Wood Buffalo, Sarnia, and St. John’s.

Our causes at a glance

We’re proud to support this purpose-built facility – a place where no one faces hunger alone.

Suncor Energy U.S.A. and Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver leaders gathered to celebrate 10 years of partnership at the Suncor Boys & Girls Club in Commerce City.

Since 2015, the Club has provided local kids a with a safe, supportive, fun and enriching space to learn, grow and reach their full potential.

Downtown Sarnia was transformed into a canvas for creativity and culture as the inaugural ARTPATH festival took place in August 2025.

As presenting sponsor, Suncor was thrilled to help set the stage for hands-on activities, live performances, artisan markets and interactive installations.

Health and safety

Sorrentino’s Compassion House in Edmonton, Alberta is a sanctuary that embodies resilience and hope for women fighting cancer.

Since 2002, this haven has opened its doors to women from across Alberta and Northern Canada, offering them a home away from home during one of the most challenging times of their lives.

Based in Fort McMurray, the Local HERO Foundation is a registered charity that delivers 24/7 helicopter emergency medevac services to the residents, workers and visitors of the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo region, with no charge to the patient.

Suncor has been a proud sponsor of Local HERO since 2014.

Suncor donated over $1.5 million to the University Hospital Foundation to help purchase a photon-counting CT scanner - a state-of-the-art advancement in medical imaging.

Together, we’re helping healthcare teams provide faster, safer and more accurate diagnoses for patients across Alberta and Western Canada.

Education and workforce development

Suncor joined EducationMatters and the Calgary Police Youth Foundation for their annual Backpack Assembly event, helping fill more than 6,000 backpacks with the supplies students need.

We’re excited about our new partnership with EducationMatters aimed at unlocking the potential of Calgary students.

Suncor and Syncrude have a strong commitment to Keyano College, helping drive forward initiatives that have meaningful impact on students and the broader community.

Our support has expanded opportunities for Indigenous learners, strengthened local arts, boosted Huskies athletics, and advanced trades training.

When students and schools thrive, we all benefit.

Suncor’s longstanding partnership with the DPS Foundation, including sponsorship of the annual Achieve Gala, helps ensure that all students across the DPS district have access to the tools, resources, and opportunities that promote their success and well-being.
